Yes, I did use the XP cd, that's the weird thing..
__________________But now I could use your help again.. I've formatted the vista drive after making a complete backup using the provided tools with windows, got XP to work again, then installed vista, and wanted to put back the backup. Vista tells me I either have to boot from the installation CD and select Windows Complete PC Restore in the System restore options menu (might be a little different in the english version as I have the dutch one and translated it litterally) or I'd have to press F8 when booting and in the advanced options I have to select the same menu and options from there.. Problem is.. they aren't there. The DVD goes straight to the 'Where do you want to install Vista?' menu, and the advanced boot menu doesn't show anything similar to it as well... Only safe mode and some other tools..

How weird, that screen doesn't even come up..

There shouldn't be a problem with using the Business DVD. Strange, I though they all had the repair screen, unless its been modded for unattended install.

Well, to be completely honest it is an unattended version, but I have a legal version of Vista Business 32bit.. this one is 64bit so that's why I maked the switch.

not sure if you fixed your problem but the solution is easy... just create a new store use bcdedit in vista. bcdedit /? for help and bcdedit /createstore to build the new entry. Then use msconfig to check everything
