Vista - file sharing.
Here's my situation (Yes it did exist on xp 64 for a while but I can't remember how I fixed it.) I have a modded Xbox that I use as a media center (Xbox Media Center ftw!) I use the media on my computer and strem it to my xbox to watch on my tv. Now here's my issue. I shared a folder containing a bit of media (music, movies, tv series and the like.) I can see my computer in the WORKGROUP workgroup and it appears as "Silent-Night" Click silent night and...it asks me for a login and password. Here's what I've tried
1) Made a file sharing ID : Filewhore pw: ilikepie and set it to have access to those files. No go on the xbox...hrm
2) Set a password to my main account ID: Black Magix pw: (You really thought I was dumb?!) No go on the xbox...extremely strange.
3) Enable the guest account for access to the files for the share. Xbox still prompts for a username and password.
The Xbox is running a distro of linux (which one, I don't know) It has the different network protocols (samba, appletalk etc.) and I've gotten this to work on Vista, XP, and Linux before but I can't figure it out now. Any suggestions? I'd like to monitor login request on vista but I don't know of a way to see if the login request is being rejected for some strange reason.
