Default HELP: Enable Vista File Sharing

I've done this on XP before, but it just seems all so complicated on Vista.

So I'm on a LAN network in my house. I want to be able to share some folders/files over the network. I right click on a folder I want to share, go to Properties. I go to Sharing and click Share. When I try to add a username from another computer, it says that it doesn't exist or something.

Right click on the folder your sharing, click on share. IN the new window, click advanced settings. Click on the permissions and see what is allowed.
