yea and thats basically what it boils down to anyway. Ive checked every other aspect of the machine and it all checks out so it HAS to be the mobo.
ALSO I FORGOT TO MENTION. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but it possibly might. When his comp is shut down, he turns it on and all his fans that are connected to the mobo spin at full speed and the computer doesnt post. He hits the restart button, and about 10 seconds later the fans quiet down and it posts. It only does this when the computer is off and you boot it up.

it kinda sounds like a bad bios chip.
when you reset the bios did you
unplug it from the wall, take out the battery , hold the power for 5 seconds and put it back to gether and try to boot?
