Default Vista 64 Ultimate- slow, crashes, windows explorer has stopped working, etc.

im pissed, installed ultimate 64 FOUR times now, and still keep getting the same problem, anything i do, the computer will be extremely slow, or just say explorer has stopped working, i went to shut down, and it says

configuring updates...
do not turn off your computer.

for over 20 minutes!!

this is SP1 btw, yea, the one thats supposed to fix all the bugs

anyone know what to do? i know im not the only one, i looked everywhere on the internet and just found people trying to find solutions but to no avail

It can take some time for SP1 to configure during the reboot. Not sure if it should be 20 mins tho.

No. I have no idea. My 64bit version was sluggish when i tried to install the last update it found a few days ago. Wouldn't turn off and seemed to never install the update. So I let it do whatever for a while, went back to the computer, turned it on, everything is fine.

Just a crap update or something I dunno.

It's because it's the biggest pile of dung ever to come from Redmond! I built a wee flier of a PC and installed fista ultimate x64 on the machine which ran well but as soon as my friend got near it and started adding HDDs etc it blue screened and he's since gone on the huff with me. I have it on another partition on my HTPC and it even blue screens that machine which is the most rock solid thing ever in XP. Steer clear of it...
