With everything of yours installed as well? That seems a bit large.

You can "make permanent" SP1 by deleting all the roll-back files from vista. This will significantly reduce the size of your Vista install. Just run vsp1clean.exe from the "run" box. See:
http://www.labnol.org/software/tutor...nk-files/2641/ Also, if you don't mind re-installing, you can run Vlite and customize your vista install. I just did this and created an unattended Vista Ultimate X64 install with SP1 integrated and no "fat" (media center, printer drivers, tablet pc, etc...). The resulting .iso is only 2 GB on disk, which means the final install will be quite small. The great thing is that I also included all my updated drivers for my 790i board and 8800 ultras, and all the hotfixes currently on my system. Now I have vLite install disk, I can simply put it in the drive and get a fresh, optimized, slim install for my system without the SP1 headaches or the 4gb BSOD limitation of the standalone vista install. It takes a couple of hours to put this together (mostly waiting time), but I highly recommend it. I also made a "just in case" "fat" "attended" install disk with SP1 included for future systems where I may have a different setup and Vista license. A good tutorial can be found here: http://expertester.wordpress.com/200...m-build-vista/ and a simpler one here: http://www.labnol.org/software/tutor...tegrated/2750/ and a video version (no slipstreaming sp1): BTW, if you make a very slim version of vista, your boot time will usually be reduced. Cheers! |
