You can try to emulate the drive but that's only good for 1/3 of the steps, sorry once again windows is forcing you to upgrade. BTW, its not worth it at all, don't install, I finally uninstalled, wait for beta 2 atleast is my best advice =)

To imagine what using Vista is like do this:

- Scan for viruses/adaware at the same time so your hard drive is always spinning.

- Download everything you can to make your os nice, using all the nice menus, transparancy and so on, that will get you to be using more then 512 ram at startup in no-time and your cpu will be constantly above 50 even if you have a killer computer.

- Make sure you are using windows 95 so crashing will be as common as opening a file.

- Open up all your firewalls and turn off all the security software and let Microsoft spy on your every move.

ALL THAT FOR FREE, YOU DON'T NEED VISTA, JUST FOLLOW MY EASY STEPS!
