I looked around a little and didn't find anything on how you can boot an OS image with a USB drive.
I'd go with what 'eurostyle360' said if you really don't want to buy a DVD burner. But I'd get one if I were you, it would make it a lot easier. Plus you'll have it for future use for whatever else you need to burn. Oh yeah, they're pretty cheap also, usually around $20-$30. On another note, just thought I'd let you know that I haven't had a problem yet running 32-bit programs on my Vista 64-bit installation. You'll just need 64-bit drivers for your devices, which you should have no problem getting. Everything I've installed so far has had 64-bit drivers readily available.

Yep, the old 'use-my-friend's' method will work fine. It's served me well in the past.

Most of 32 but programs will work fine on vista 64 bit the only issue i ran into a few months ago were the sucky drivers witch i heard has since been ressolved.. If there is a 64bit version of an app you have ( ex : Avast is available in 64bit) then by all means install it ... As far a booting from a usb key it's possible so far the only tutorial i used was for ubuntu for windows i doubt it will work...

Yes, there will be an option somewhere to burn .iso. in Nero it is under the data section.

and since this is an important disc, burn it SLOOOOWW. keep its speed at it's lowest setting since its an important OS disc. you don't want it to finish and find that the windows installation can't find a file later on. and yeah, if he has nero there will be an option to burn an image to disc. if you need a good free program to burn images i swear by imgburn. i always hated nero for it's bloatware.
