Default Switching from 32bit to 64bit Vista

Well the 32bit RAM limit is starting to get on my nerves lately and i've been thinking of making the switch to 64bit. So what are the means of doing this and what will happen to my old programs? Will I have to redownload every program on my back up drive of the 64bit version?

I've also heard I can use my 32bit product key with the 64bit disk if I can find one.

help much appreciated as always.

Don't get teh X38/48. From what I have seen is that they don't like the 4xxx or 3xxx series for a matter of fact. The 780i will do you just find and is a great overclocking board.

huh?? Wrong thread buddy lol.

Well, if you format, yes you will lose all information. If you do an upgrade, it will keep your old files.

Wow, no offence but that is bad advice.

Nvidia chipset boards are shockers 90% of the time.

I could have swore I read on microsoft.com one time that you can't upgrade from 32bit to 64bit, a fresh install was required. But I am no where near never being wrong

You can not "upgrade" a 32 bit install to a 64 bit install. Just not compatable. You have to do a fresh install of a 64 bit OS (unless you have 64 bit already, which the OP does not).
You will have to re-install everything. You need 64 bit drivers, and some programs have 64 bit versions. Pretty much any 32 bit program will install in 64 bit Windows.
Yes, your 32 bit CD key will work if you have access to a 64 bit CD.

you can use the majority of 32-bit programs, some do have issues which many have updated to fix
