Very simple question, does windowsXp use DirectX7 has much as Windows98SE?

It's not operating system based. It depends on what the game developers used for the game.

i think he means when xp render say the explorer page or some thing similar. is it dx 7 base or dx 8 or 9?

Oh, well how come i can't play some of my older games on this OS?
__________________Even if you set the Compatibility mode to windows98, the game looks like sh** and plays like crap. And some of my games work superior in windows98se, but in Xp, doesn't matter which GPU i use, the game plays terrible. Is it true that some older games are just meant for win9x? Does XP use more resources then WIN9X in gaming or something? I understand my computer is old, but for games to work perfect using windows98se and run bad in XP, well maybe XP doesn't fully have Direct6 or 7 data. Someone over at guru3d is using Xp and i think one of the new Geforce cards with forceware 177.89 and he gets 10FPS in CS.

yeah win98 had better compatibilty with some of the older dos games and such and windows 98 shipped with the superior direct x 5.0 woot.

I am not talking about DOS games, lol. Games like Turok2 , Unreal , Powerslide, Driver, Blade of Darkness, those era of games. I don't play DOS games haha. Thats too old. Some DOS didn't even work correctly when i was using windows98se. haha
