It's not operating system based. It depends on what the game developers used for the game.

Doesn't it depend on the game??

The OS has nothing to do with DX as far as I know.

XP is capable of DX7, if that's what you're asking.

Tell that to the people trying to run DX10 on XP. JK but seriously that stinks. Should be backwards compatible though.

Oh, well how come i can't play some of my older games on this OS?
Even if you set the Compatibility mode to windows98, the game looks like sh** and plays like crap. And some of my games work superior in windows98se, but in Xp, doesn't matter which GPU i use, the game plays terrible.

Is it true that some older games are just meant for win9x?
Does XP use more resources then WIN9X in gaming or something?
I understand my computer is old, but for games to work perfect using windows98se and run bad in XP, well maybe XP doesn't fully have Direct6 or 7 data.

Someone over at guru3d is using Xp and i think one of the new Geforce cards with forceware 177.89 and he gets 10FPS in CS.

I am not talking about DOS games, lol. Games like Turok2 , Unreal , Powerslide, Driver, Blade of Darkness, those era of games. I don't play DOS games haha. Thats too old. Some DOS didn't even work correctly when i was using windows98se. haha
