Apple is the best for graphic design. What kind of programs are they going over in her classes? Adobe Illustrator? Elaborate on the programs being used.

You mean Adobe? Apple = a computer...

Your personal opinion =/= fact.

Unfortunately I cannot do that. She wants a laptop when she gets her additional funding for school. If anything I would donate it to her cause until such time that she gets her money and gets her laptop. Then charge her a tax (new mobo, cpu, and RAM) when she gives it back to me.

New post for new news. We went out and bought her a new laptop. It's an HP Pavilion dv9925nr. Comes with 4GB of memory, 250GB HDD, Turion x2 @ 2 Ghz loaded with vista home premium 64 bit. What kind of driver availability should I expect to find with this thing? The guys at Best Buy told us about 4 different stories. 2 stories were of nknown success finding drivers, 1 was optimistic on finding them and 1 was flat out "It is impossible". So I get it home and hop on HP's website looking to see and lo and behold there are drivers for xp x64 - but not all of them from the looks of it. We shall see. I am decrapwaring the system now and am going to make a backup recovery disc so I can partition the hard drive to find out.

Honestly, when I made the switch to Vista x64, driver availability was not a problem at all. At any rate, good luck with the new laptop.
