Hi, have Vista and XP installed and want to go back to just XP. So what i want to know is, do i need to take both of them off and start again. Or can i just formate the drive where the OS is that i dont want?
Or should i delete the partition, yes they are both on one drive, partitioned! Thanks Gary

Depends slightly on what bootloader you use.
__________________If you just use the windows one you should be able to goto the root of your main drive (c and see a file called boot.ini (if not, show hidden system files in view options) and remove the line for whichever OS you have. Then after that you can delete/clear the partition and use it for data, or use a program like Partition Magic and join it back to your main partition.

If you can backup all the stuff you want to keep, I would suggest just reformatting the whole drive. In my experience there seem to be less complications when start from scratch.

Easiest thing to do is:
__________________1) Backup all your needed files 2) Insert your CD for the OS you want to install 3) Delete both partitions; they will automatically merge together 4) Install your new OS
