That was used at my school to hide the drives that students didn't need to be on.
Sadly, it didn't help much considering everyone that was technichal knew were the Paths were to edit.

I did the same thing to remove the ready boost flash drive...can't believe they didn't make a nice and easy option to hide since you aren't using it for any thing else. (and not that ready boost appears to do much of any thing anyway)
