If you play AoC theres a benefit of having 8gb. A LOT of people are experiencing gray screen/map problems even with 4gb. With 8 its never happend to me once. The most ive used is about 36% of 8gbs.

Would you really utilize 8Gb ?
Vista's super fetch loads commonly used programs into memory allowing faster access time so by extrapolation more memory = more programs and faster access to your overall computer. I'm running XP mainly because I don't like the vista interface and I've spent way to much time customizing my XP erience. (lol) Also i can't see shelling out the cash. 4Gb is the most xp can utilize and its more than sufficient for what i do.

Funny, I just finished reading the 8 gig article on Toms.

Yes, go 8 gigs. One of the tests they did on Toms was to turn off the page file and see when it crashed. 2 gigs did so rather quickly. 8 gigs had no problems, even with Photo shop using 3 gigs of memory.
Memory is so cheap now. I barely touch the 4 I have now and have thought about another 4 just because. I mean I will have spent less than $100 on 8 gigs of Muschkin mid/upper range memory. 18 months ago I spent $125 for 2 gigs of midrange G.Skill.

Imo if your going with 8GB ram you could really go with even higher when your already upgrading to that amount. 4GB is more than enough atm so wait and upgrade when you REALLY REALLY need more than 4GB. It's up to you thought.

Though just so you know, you should not run with your page file off. Many programs and services will try to purposely put some thing in the page file. If it can't find one it will try to use the system memory but it will keep looking for the page file. This can lead to lower performance.

Yes, true, I was just pointing out the test they did.
Just with 8 gigs, it will rarely even use it, so you don't need a large one.
