Default 8GB of RAM vs 4GB of RAM

Will 8GB of RAM be a noticeable upgrade from 4GB of RAM?

At most, I have the following apps up:
Photoshop
Indesign
Illustrator
Adobe Reader
iTunes
Firefox (multiple instances)
Word (multiple instances)
2x VMware doing F@H

Nope save your money. 8GB is a overkill. Plus since your having all your 4 memory dimm slot fill it could stress your Northbridge even more. So not worth it IMO.

Says someone with 2GB...

4GB PWNS 2GB in Vista 64. If you are going to be running all these apps and you are getting some slowdown then yes get 8GB and don't look back!

And also, on these forums, the word Overkill should be banned.

2GB is fail on Vista OS. 4GB is a must, 8GB would just be better. I have 6.14GB myself.

edit: To answer your question, I dont think it will be noticeable. It would be better though..

I have often thought of upgrading to 8GB. I do quite a bit of video editing and web design. I shoot over 4GB without an issue when workin with HD video. I have to replace my Balistixs because they died so I will probably go 8GB pretty soon.

I think tom's did a test with 8, 4, and 2GB of memory and the 4GB ended up being the fastest and best used

I lied...it was bit-tech...at least the one I was thinking of

Take a look

If you do alot of photoshopping/desktop virtualization, then I can see why you would need 8GB, go for it.

This is a nice read, if it has anything to do with this subject:
