If you wanna know if a drive is good check out a review of it on CDFreaks.com. Its might be easiest to google the drive name with review and if you have a hard time finding it try taking out hyphens and put in spaces and no spaces. There you can find everything you want from media quality to burner quality and even Burner and Media compatibility. Its a great site. Media and Burner Quality is an interesting subject much under-rated (like ram and psu quality in some cases).

Some quick tips:
DVD+R>DVD-R
Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden = Quality in most cases (as long as they arn't fakes)
Slower burn = Better Compatibility and Longevity
Pioneer DBK215 or 115 or 216 are nice drives

For top quality drives check out the CDFreaks Top 5 Members Choice Awards.

Grab those verbatims they are a steal. And one quick note if you want a really good drive go here.

Oh damn how could I be this stupid!!!!!!!! I'm sorry, forgive me, I'm really sorry, but I didn't mean hardware burner, I meant software burner. Me not having English as my native language and my stupid probably made this horrible mistake...
