Alright, here is a small breakdown if anyone didn't realize this.

The way Microsoft has now implemented keys with Windows Vista, is much easier.

Here is the deal:

The windows disc defines what Bit version you are using, 32 or 64. There are two different versions of this, usually both are packaged in a retail copy of Windows Vista.

The Key defines what OS version you are going to be using. So, if you have Vista Basic and try to use a Vista Ultimate DVD it should work. Now, maybe not everything will (Windows Index Experience, MCE, etc) but the basic OS should.

If what I recall (I usually always get my OS from MSDN, so sorry if I am wrong on this) is that with what I was doing, using a Vista Ultimate Key I got from MSDN and using the Business DVD that they gave me, I could not run the Experience Index software.
