Ok, So this just occured recently. Before I can read my flash drives, memory cards. Now every time I insert a usb flash drive, or memory card via reader, it would say that windows need to format it before it can read it. I plug it these flash, memory cards into my XP based laptop and xp can read it fine... I've also formatted an empty card w/ the XP laptop, and plugg it back into vista, vista still says "need to format it"... I do have 2 external drives connected to the computer. 1 of them says same thing about formmating it, another is working fine... *** is going on?

The next time you insert one, uninstall the USB composite device from your device manager and retry.
