Default Should I stay or should I go?

I've been using Windows XP for a long time, and I love it. My computer died, and so I got a new rig. I'm now running a NVIDIA 9500GT 512MB 700MHz OC'd card (actually, 2 of them but I don't have an SLI connector yet). I was wondering if it's worth upgrading to Vista with my current rig to get DirectX 10.

i like vista much more than Xp. If you can find it cheap, i do not see the harm in upgrading, but it is totally unnecessary.

TRY Dual boot and test drive it and then make your decision and post it here. I tried Vista when it first came out and was soo disappointed I gave it away. But from what I hear the new Service packs have really helped.

A rule of thumb to go by is to never use a micr$haft product on release as they use thier users as beta testers. but after the first service pack it is usually stable.

Create a partition and install the vista on it as dual-boot. Play with it to see if you want to stay with xp or move on.

Hmmm, from what I've seen in reviews, DX10 games seem to just make the game slower. I could barely see the differences in graphics quality.

EDIT: nvm lol. I looked at more screenshots of DX10 vs DX9 and I see a quite a bit of improvement in the lighting, especially sunlight. The postprocess effects seem improved as well.

I have not noticed about any difference in games moving from xp to vista, but vista feels faster in my opinion, never going back to xp.

If you decide to get vista then try to get vista home premium or ultimate (best ones) and if you want to use 4 gb of memory u will need to get a 64-bit OS
