Default vista memory usage.?!

so, i know its supposed to use around 1gb to start with 4gb of system memory, and that processes generally use more memory because of how the operating system works. but i left my computer on all day downloading, and utorrent left me with about 2gb worth of junk memory usage. (2.93gb before exiting, 930mb after exiting utorrent).

is this a problem? it hasn't slowed me down yet but im sure it will eventually.. or will windows just throw out any old stuff to put new stuff in? or maybe there is a fix for it? i downloaded the newest utorrent version just a few days ago.

If you need the memory Vista will free it up.

vista is doing its thing and using your RAM to speed up your operations instead of just having RAM sit there not being used for things. When you open up more processes vista will free up the ram to run them.

utorrent may have a memory leak... but no it isnt a problem my computer typically uses 2 to 2.8gb of memory during the day (from a total of 4)

i think i figured it out:
my hard drives are set to turn off after like a half hour, and with them off it decides to save the power and just throw downloads and uploads into system memory every once in awhile.

does that make sense?
