Ok, I have the dumbest problem I have ever encountered building PC's. I put together a system out of spare parts and installed Vista Ultimate on it. No problems, runs great except...once I got into the OS my DVD burner is not showing up as installed anymore. I used the drive to install the OS and the OS can't see it, anyone got any suggestions?

Try all the connections, if it's IDE see if you can swap the cable and make sure PIN1 lines up with LINE1.
There will be a 1 on the right socket on the IDE cable and a 1 on the right pin on the drive. ~B~

The drive shows up just fine in the BIOS and I can boot from it just fine, it just doesn't show up in the OS, anything else anybody can think of would be appreciated.

Usually drivers. Have you downloaded the most recent ones from the manufacturer?
