No you can't. The point of the ad is to show that yeah a mac is probably not gonna mess up but thats only because you can't customize anything so you half the performance you could on a similar PC. If you put windows, PC, or linux instead of MAC the statement would be untrue. You can customize and overclock a whole lotta stuff on a PC with windows and Linux even more so. Most computer enthusiasts don't like macs because of that exact reason. Really I don't even see how those cartoons are insulting, even to a mac fanboy. Nobody said if you buy a mac you're stupid, just that if you're stupid you'll probably buy a mac. There's a difference.

edit: I read your post wrong. You were saying that a windows pc compared to a linux pc is the same as the mac being compared to the windows pc right? So if windows was the tricycle and linux is motorcycle where does mac fall into that category? A wagon maybe?

Which is precisely why I hate all those Mac commercials. I've said it numerous times: you can make yourself look good one of two ways. You can highlight your strengths, or you can highlight everyone else's weaknesses. Those Mac vs. PC ads take the latter approach and I've become strongly opposed to the whole Apple-fanboy image they portray.

I really hope Microsoft doesn't take the same direction with this new $300-million ad campaign. Although, if their strength is supposed to be Jerry Seinfeld, they may just have to resort to gutter tactics.

And indeed. I was saying that the complaint is you can't customise a mac, to me, you can't customise Windows.
