dual boot question-need awnser asap

New to Overclock.net
|
i would like to know if its possible for me to install windows xp on my 2nd 160gb drive like so:
unplug my 1st 160gb and my 1tb keep 2nd 160 plugged in install windows xp install drivers shut down plug other drives back in will this work and give me a choice of which i want to boot to upon startup? thanks in advance i need this asap to run some software i need

You shouldn't need to unplug them you can choose what disc you want to farmat and install on.
edit: and yes it will ask you what os to go into on start up

If you're dual-booting Vista/XP, then xp should be installed first then Vista. Vista's boot loader does the rest for you and gives an option of which os you'd like at boot.
I know some here have gotten it to work in reverse but I also know that most of them have had issues due to this. GL

Are the drives SATA, IDE, or a combination? What I did, when I used to dual boot, was disable the SATA where Vista was installed, leaving just the IDE active, where I installed XP. Once all of the XP updates and everything were set, enabled the SATA again, and got the Vista boot loading choice.
Worked for me... ![]()
