Default Won't Boot

I posted here about a week ago
Here's my problem
My mom's computer won't boot into Vista...it just says please enter system disk and press a key or it will say something about configuring dhcp?
So I put in the Vista disc and nothing happens....try reinstalling Vista and it doesn't show my hard drive so I have nowhere to install it
Also when I press like F2 to get into BIOS lets say F2 is for system settings it just goes to a black screen that says system settings in the bottom right hand corner instead of the actual BIOS
What do you think the problem may be? The only thing I have done to this computer was plugged in an old keyboard from a gateway than plugged back in the keyboard that came with the computer a couple days later and then this happened.

Do you actually have a hard drive in the computer? Are its power cord and SATA cable plugged in, not loose or anything?

Pressing Delete usually gets you into the BIOS.

Did you plug/ unplug the keyboard while it was turned on? I've seen hard drives fried from this (PS2, of course, not USB.)
