Just make sure anything important that you need to run has drivers for x64 Vista.

If you can, do a back-up of youe hdd. I have never had an issue, but I also always keep my important files (music, movies and pr0n) in a file on my server and do a reformat every time I install an OS (or reformat one)

Just get the x64 drivers, and for most of the Valve games, get the Visual C++ x64 redist files.

If you have steam games, back up your entire steam directory. I have had a problem where even if you have the insatll CD steam will try to download your games! Just install steam, login, and replace your steam directory with the one you backed up (you may need to restart steam). No downloads or updates needed!
