Ok i need the drivers for my HDD so i can install vista cause it asks me for them before i can install
__________________i have a seagate barracude 7200.7 (120 or 160GB version) not sure its my moms comp Can someone link me to the drivers and do i just put the files on a usb drive and stick that in along with the vista disc

Try turning off your pc and install your hdd,then turn it back on and it should be recognized by the OS,and install the driver by itself.You could always go to the manufactures website.

You may need to update your motherboard sata drivers. Go tho the manufacturer of whoever made your mobo (or PC) and download the latest ones there.

my bios is acting weird itll say like press f10 for setup, etc...
__________________but when i press like f10 for setup it will just go to a black screen that says setup in the bottom right hand corner...so if i get a bios update for my mobo do i just burn it to a disk and update it or what?

i think your problem is that you have RAID enabled for the port(s) that you have your drives plugged into. and the F10 for setup, is for setting up your raid, and it's not working because the drives are different. this is also why windows is asking for drivers (SATA RAID/AHCI drivers).
when you boot up your computer, press F2 or delete. you will see a blue screen for your BIOS. find the section where it will ask the "mode" for the IDE channels. they should be set to "IDE mode", and not RAID or AHCI or SIL32 (silicon raid if your board has it). once you get it working, you can install the motherboard's SATA RAID drivers, then go back in and change the IDE channel mode to AHCI and get better performance from your drives.
