I recently need to grant myself permissions to a file so that an update would install. Now that I have granted the permissions I cant remove them to keep the file safe. I tried just going into the properties of the file but can not do it from there. I performed the procedure as described here http://www.ocmodshop.com/ocmodshop.aspx?a=851. I have tried all kinds of different combinations of the commands that, atleast to me, make sense. I found this site, http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/0...o-manage-acls/.
__________________The file I changed permissions on is C:\Windows\System32\mapisvc.inf. I believe that the permissions should look like this files, C:\Windows\System32\ieuinit.inf. They are both the same type of file. I just cant seem to find a way to set the file back the way it was.

Have you tried doing this in Safe Mode or using the System User?
Have you tried the graphical approach?

How do access the System user account. I remember something about the real admin account being hidden on Vista...

Seems like it is still me not entering the correct string of info in the command prompt. Im really thinking of just leaving myself as the owner and letting the admin account have full access. The file contains the info for the exchange server and info related to exchange. Being as the PC will never see an exchange servere and I can always remove and install Office again.
