Default Vista 32bit/ 64bit question!

hi right now i have vista x86 OEM. I bought it in newegg

idk why but programs that require more than 1600MB of RAM create weird problems on my computer. I have 4GB of RAM and 3.3GB is recognized.

For example, crysis warhead always crashes once it reaches 1600-1630MB usage (not total used RAM but warhead itself).
When i tried prime95 to max out my RAM, it would only go up to 1600MB no matter what i do, however, it doesnt crash.
I got all these values from task manager.

is this a 32bit OS problem? do I have to upgrade to 64 just to play warhead without crashes?

System: my very first build :)

I found out this is related to contiguous RAM or whatever and something to do with 32bit's limited RAM allocation to a single app. Please help, I really dont anything on how 32/64 bit OSes work.

i wish i could.. but then i'm really not sure if a 32bit OEM key will work with x64 vista

also, i CANNOT afford another copy of vista (x64). im only 16 and i hardly get money

does anyone know if my 32bit OEM vista home prem key will work with my friend's x64 vista OEM home prem disk? More importantly, will it still get activated? both mine and my friend's disk were purchased in newegg

There should be an option well hidden in your BIOS for memory remapping. Try turning that on. That should give you a bit more breathing room until you're able to get a 64-bit OS installed. (And you'll have to do it for the 64-bit OS anyway.)

The OEM 32 bit key should work with the 64 bit OEM disk. I have read of some saying it worked with no issues, but I don't know for sure. This is also that grey area of EULA, there is no specific thing against doing this, yet MS will not send you an 64 bit upgrade disk.

No game requires more than 1600mb of RAM. If the game is crashing when it's reaching that amount, then i suggest that you have instabilities somewhere in your system, are you sure that overclock is stable? Have you run Memtest? Are your RAM timings in place and correct?

Crysis warhead uses about 1.8gb, I managed to play through it with 2gb of ram and let me tell you it got very choppy in some parts.

Official System Requirments:

Memory : 1 GB RAM for XP, 1.5 GB RAM for Vista

I'm not saying it wont use more than 1600mb, I'm saying that somthing is off with his system and once the memory comes under that load it becomes unstable.
