Ok no matter what method I try (and there is a lot of them) I cannot seem to get my USB stick to boot.

Yes I selected my USB stick for 1st boot priority and followed all methods. I tried this method and now I get stuck at:
Quote:
Code:

mbrwiz /disk=X /active=1

where 'X' is the disk number you found before.
It asks me "Are you sure you want to partition active?". I choose Y and I get:
Error 64: Invalid Parameter: 2

I checked that disk 2 is indeed my USB stick so....what is the problem?

BUMP

Alright so I follwed this guide to installing Windows 7 via a usb drive. The setup works fine and it installs the hard drive I choose. However when it reboots after installing it just cycles back to the setup. When changing the boot device to hard drive it brings me to a screen that says there is a Disk Read Error. Now what am I supposed to do now?

Never could get the damn thing to work myself. I think I know what problem you were having though.

During the install process your computer reboots a couple of times. Normally utilizing DVD/CD install disks your computer will request "Please hit any key to boot from CD/DVD" and it gives you about 10 seconds to do so. If you don't it will cycle through the installation procedure, and therefore automatically jumping back into the current installation that you were in the middle of.

Now what the USB did is it just kept going back to the beginning of the install procedure (this interruption no doubt screwed your install), which after the first reset it might have been a good idea to unplug the USB before it loaded up again, because after the initial reset it already has all the files it needs from the USB copied onto your drive.

That is my guess anyway. Good Luck and let me know if any of that helped

This would save people (me) from having to buy an external DVD drive to install windows onto a new SSD in a netbook.
