Exclamation What the HECK??

Ok heres the Go. Thank GOD for dual hd's

i get the Net for 3days if i am lucky in a row on the same HDD. There is SOMETHING that windows is doing to my LAN settings, but when i look at it, there is NO CHANGE in settings. WINDOWS is DELETING my PROXY'S for as far as i can tell. its starting to REALLY annoy me (this is on y pII, that machine i had when i joined here, b/c like i said in another thread, i made my PIV tower SMOKE, how i dont know, but its still under warranty, so its at the shop getting fixed....for free even!)

would ANYONE know what is causing this? i've asked a few of my Technician Buddies on MSN, but they have no idea.. 1 thinks it might be a virus thats attached to my VIRTUAL MEMORY, but i've flushed that my times then Macdonald sells a happy meal. So we Ruled that out. He other Suggestion is that it might be Data corruption. but i find this hard 2 believe seeming the HDD gets formatted every 3 days...

Can ANYONE at all help me out on this? i'm about to make this tower a case out of thermite mixed with uranium at boiling point.

Not sure what's causing it, but...

What version of Windows are you running on this (PII ?) machine? If you're running 2K or XP, put your disk in the drive, go to "RUN" (on the start menu) and type sfc /scannow. If the program asks for your Windows disk, point it in the right direction. There is something similar on 98SE, but I cant remember how to access it now and it's not as good anyhow. sfc /scannow might fix your problem, no guarantees though. How about a virus scan might help .

My only other suggestion would be to run adware/spyware removal tools (like Adaware/Spybot S&D etc), or a program like CCleaner, or a trusted free registry cleaning tool like Tweaknow Reg Cleaner, or if you have it Norton's WinDoctor. Perhaps you've already considered/tried this stuff, but if not, give it a try, it cant hurt and you might find it helps.
