I installed Avira Free edition, but had to uninstall for some reason. It didn't completely remove the folder, because I don't have the right permissions. I tried deleting it manually as an administrator, and no luck.
It won't reinstall Avira either. It says the same thing, that I don't have the correct permissions. I found a forum where someone was having this problem on Vista. They said to unhide the hidden admin account and use that to change permissions for creator/owner. I tried this, and it won't even let my admin account change the permissions for that folder! Does the RC have some sort of restriction on file permissions or something? This is super annoying!

you can try opening a dos box with run as admin then just delete the directory that way if it doesnt work and its really bothering you and you dont get a descent working solution from someone else you can boot up a ubuntu disk and use that to delete it off the hard drive

Yeah I was thinking about doing that. I really would like to be able to solve it within Windows if possible, just because I don't like not being able to fix something.

Finally figured it out!
I followed the directions on this page: http://www.blogsdna.com/2166/how-to-delete-undeletable-files-in-windows-7.htm I have no idea why you have to go to such lengths just to delete a file but hey it worked.

good deal. it basicly is taking ownership of the file. i wonder why this doesnt work when ya right click on an item and select take ownership. of course i dont mind using a console to get stuff done.
