Default win7 beta to win7 rc

i would think alot of people are wondering this same issue. what preperations in advance are required to prep win 7 beta build 7000 x86 for update to win7 rc? i read somewhere that a registry file had to be erased to make the aero theme availible and a few other things like that. all advice helps. TIA

I just installed on different partition, got all the files I needed, and erased the 7000 partition. Didn't allow me to upgrade, I don't think.

You can upgrade
Quote:
Download the ISO as you did previously and burn the ISO to a DVD
Copy the whole image to a storage location you wish to run the upgrade from (a bootable flash drive or a directory on any partition on the machine running the pre-release build)
Browse to the sources directory
Open the file cversion.ini in a text editor like Notepad
Modify the MinClient build number to a value lower than the down-level build. For example, change 7100 to 7000
Save the file in place with the same name
Run setup like you would normally from this modified copy of the image and the version check will be bypassed

I just did this not 20 mins ago, and it works perfectly for me (Build 7000 -> 7100 RC)

If you downloaded the RC legally, this information is provided at time of download.
There is no need for a fresh install, just upgrade using the above instructions.
