Windows Experience Index
So i just installed windows 7 just a few days ago. i have no hard ware changes except a new storage drive. and i was just wondering why my system rating went down from 5.9 in my vista partition to 5.4 in my Se7en partition. any ideas?

Windows 7 includes an updated Experience Index, with a higher rating system.
5.9 is no longer the maximum rating, which overall tends to cause other ratings to differ from the ratings they were on Vista. If you look at everything, you will most likely have hardware that is rated in the 6.0s instead of maxing out at 5.9. http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.a...tno=622&pgno=0 Also, I would edit your signature, as profanity is against the TOS.

well that makes sense. i didnt actually type the words. i used stars. shift+8. i dont think thats against TOS.

Meh experience index is nothing to go by, I got a 5.9, my lowest was my primary hard disk rating. my highest was a 7.5 on my ram.
looks to me like anyone with anything below a raptor, SSD, or a raid 0 is going to get a 5.9 provided their rig is decent.
