Default Which drive should I use for best paging file performance?

Hey there.

I was wondering which drive/partition I should put my paging file on for best performance. I have 4GBs of RAM, 2 640GB Caviar Blacks in RAID 0 w/ 128kb stripe, and one WD5000AAKS drive for back up. The RAID 0 set up is split into two partitions, C for OS and D for everything else.

Which one should I use for best paging file performance, the RAID drives or the single 500GB drive?

I've read that it's best to put the paging file on a separate (ex: non-main drive) drive from the OS, but it didn't mention anything about RAID 0 vs single HDD.

i would use the 500gb drive, your page file doesnt get used much, and when it does that drive will be able to keep up i would guess

Since you have 4GB of RAM, I would disable it altogether. If you wanna keep it for some reason, usually it's best to put it on a different drive from the OS (the 500GB in your case). Still, I don't know how your 500GB drive is partitioned, but you should make a special (say 4GB) partition to be used exclusively for pagefile, to avoid pagefile fragmentation.

I personally turn my PF off, windows still uses it but will use less.

Personally, i say always take the page file of the C drive as thats where all the more intensive disk activitys take place.
