I just installed Windows on my Maxtor 200GB drive since I had many problems with my Windows that is installed on my 80GB drive, my current plan is to boot off the 200GB drive, get my saved games and music off my 80GB drive then erase that and give it to my brother for his new computer.
__________________When I was installing Windows on my 200GB drive, it was going smoothly until it came to a point where it said "23 minutes remaining" then suddenly rebooted and since I only had it set to boot of my CD/DVD drive it asked me if I wanted to boot off my Windows install on drive C or E so I chose the first one since they weren't labelled (stupid MS ) and it booted into my old install (it had the username Remonster) so I rebooted and tried the other one and I tried it 3 times and every time I get NTLDR is missing Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart.....I have no idea what is wrong. Can anyone help me fix this? I am going to try to repair the install but please leave and comments or ideas here, I am on my laptop so I can still reply back and stuff ![]()

It is assumed that these drives are IDE drives, in which case the OS must be on the HDD which is master on the Primary IDE controller. If you have the drives split across the controllers - recheck or disconnect the 2nd drive until the OS is fully installed.

Hey.
__________________I sympathize with you. When I got that message, I tried every troubleshooting trick I could think of. Is the drive SATA? mine was. If it's any help: There's a 'hidden' command built into COMMAND.COM's FDISK command that restores the MBR. check it out. it worked for me. You might also want to check-out some of the utilities up for grabs at wdc.com, or on seagate's site. cheers.

Unplug the 80gb drive intell you get windows installed, then hook your old one up, go in bios and set the boot priority.

They are both SATA drives so there is no master or slave
__________________ also I can boot of either fine, if I do it off the 80GB it takes me to my old Windows install but if I try off my 200GB it goes to the new install which doesn't work, I am reformatting and installing again so wish me luck, also REPS for both of ya. ![]() EDIT/// I mean the three of ya, didn't see your post there Jrabb :P EDIT//// Just to clarify, because there seems to be some confusion, there is no problem with it booting off either drive or with the boot order, it is just that the windows install on my 200GB drive (Now labelled C drive) is having problems with this NTLDR crap...

Alright guys, UPDATE, I just got it to work, I reinstalled it and reformatted and now its up and I am downloading my LAN and video drivers as well as OJX's sweet Royale windows theme (thanks for that again man!) on my laptop since there is no internet on my computer yet. Thanks again, REPS have been given where they were needed
