Default Win-7 32bit & 64bit for RAM Problem

Hello friends,

I want to ask about 32bit 64bit windows-7

I have c2q Q6600 on asus p5q and I’m using creative audigy sound card and xfx 8800gt and RAM is 4GB

Above hardware is running with windows-7 32bit and problem is that I can use only 3GB of my 4GB RAM

So I am planning to install 64bit windows-7 and later (when officially win-7 release) I will buy 64bit win-7 so that I can use full 4GB RAM

but I want to know about my system and sound card + display card -- are these card with work on win-7 64bit without any problem

2nd thing is about software running on my 32bit OS e.g. acdsee divx and other normal gaming + multimedia tools - is there any problem running these tools/app on win-7 64bit

Please help me since it will be my first time that I am going to use/install any 64bit OS

Thanks and sure I will get full support as usual

Your "system" as you put it should work fine with 64-bit, not sure about the audio card as I don't use one but I'm sure someone will chime in on that. DivX works on 64-bit too. You mention multimedia tools but nothing specific so can't really help you there. :P

Most games today will work on 64-bit architecture. Back with XP 64-bit there were some problems, but we've come a long way since then. 64-bit just has a bad reputation with compatibility while most of it really isn't true.

These drivers should work with your soundcard: http://download.digiex.net/Drivers/C..._15_0004EQ.exe

As long as you download the 64bit drivers, the hardware will work perfectly. Also, almost all programs have a 64bit version, which will play nicely with your 64bit OS.

your system should work with the 64 bit architecture platform, and games as most mentioned above run well on 64 bit systems nowadays, and as for the drivers in general....

I think all companies are working hard nowadays to develop drivers for windows 7, which we already could use with the vista drivers, so don't worry... drivers should be ready to download and install once 7 is officially released.

good luck

i have an audigy sound card in vista x64 it works perfectly. I also got some X-fi drivers for it to turn it into a x-fi xtreme audio. Look into that. :P. But yeah its 4gb - everything for x32, go x64, you wont have any issues.

Remember for your programs to install the 64-bit version when ever possible. If no 64-bit is available the 32-bit version will still work. All 32-bit programs will automatically install the the program files(x86) folder and all 64-bit will install in the program files folder. Some people get confused when they see 2 program files for the first time I know I did!

If a win7 64-bit driver can't be found you can use Vista 64-bit.

Also if you have any problems with driver signing enforcement in 64-bit go to this site and follow the directions. Driver signing is a real PITA.

Good luck and welcome to win7 64-bit!!!!!
