What do you use to download?
Use wget for large files or downloads.
Extract the attached file in your Windows folder: C:\Windows
Then to download a large file go to the start menu, type run, press enter, and then proceed to type the following:

Code:
wget -c http://www.website.com/thefileyouwanttodownload.zip
Of course replace the url with the url of the file you want to download.
If the download aborts or an error occurs, just type this in the run box again to continue for where you left off (which is why the -c tag is here.).
The file will be downloaded in C:\Documents and Settings\username if you're running Windows XP and in C:\Windows if you're running Vista or Seven.
