Yeah same way, with exception, it must be a dell cd.
Just boot to cd, go into setup and format, then delete the partition.
Create new, and install.
Drivers might be on a second disc then the os.

What is the service tag? Most dell's have a built in factory image/restore you can hit, save you some pain and suffering of installing everything.

Either use the original dell OS cd or install any of your choice. does not need the dell cd and all the service tag does for you is take you to the correct drivers on the dell website.
I have Win 7 running on my Studio 17 and an older copy of Win XP running on my kids Dell Netbook.

my advise is when you finished reinstalling, put Firefox with adblock plus addon
and disable access to internet explorer if she is that type of person
make sure to backup all her files and bookmarks etc before you reinstall

and yes you press (normally F12 on Dells) or delete key to get into BIOS and select boot from disk, delete the partitions and reinstall

unless it uses the recovery partition method, then you boot to that partition and reinstall, but if they send you the disk, and there is a recovery partition on their make sure you don't delete it

i used to own a Dell before i built my custom PC
(and no older parts went into this custom), IDE Drive i got from another older system just for ubuntu)

I was asking so I could see if it had a built in system restore but okay, have fun.

Doesn't Windows Update find drivers like that?

In Device manager if you select the audio hardware (if you can) try Updating drivers from there.
