Yes. It will show, for instance C: Local Disk. You highlight it, and then click the "Delete" button. It may be under "Advanced". I don't remember.

Once that is done, you will see it change to Unallocated. From there, highlight it, and then click "Format", then you are good to go.

Once it's finished, just click Continue, and the copying of system files and installing the OS will start.

Your PC may reboot during this process. When it reboots, you DO NOT have to boot back into the disk, it will continue by itself, and will continue with the installation.

You shouldn't have any problems at all. It's basically straight-forward and very simple.

If you have any data on the drive, make sure to back it up prior to deleting the partition, as you will not be able to get the data back easily if you need it.

Also free for anyone with 3 or more flames.

And replacing an OS is just like installing it. It deletes all of your data and formats your Hard Drive, acting like a new install and getting rid of the old one. Just make sure to get the Partitions sorted out.

It should work like this:
  1. Choose "Custom"
  2. Click "Drive Options (Advanced)"
  3. If there's just one hard drive, choose "Delete", or "Delete Partition" or something like that.
  4. It may ask if you're sure. So tell it you are.
  5. Then tell it to Create a new partition since you just deleted it.
  6. Then tell it to format it.
  7. If you get the option to do a quick format, then choose the quick. The longer one is the same, but it also performs a disk check which is useful for checking older hard drives to see if they're still in good condition.
After the format, installation should begin automatically. It'll then tell you that it's decompressing files. It should stay at 0% for a longer-than-expected time (maybe 5 minutes), and then suddenly begin incrementing at what a normal speed.

Edited to include step #2. That's an important step.

Heh, it's very simple. Once you do it a few times, it will be stuck in your brain forever. Believe me, I know me and TwoCables have done this for years.

Now that you have an understanding of this, write it down, or print it if you need to, then hurry up and replace that Windows XP installation with Windows 7. It's perrrfect, and this is coming from a Mac guy
