I can take advantage of the Windows 7 for students ($30) deal, and i need a new copy of windows for my build. Is there any way i can use that to get windows 7 on my new computer? I have heard that you can get a clean install from it, i just want to double check. If not, can i install the RC and upgrade from the RC? or some other way? Thanks in advance.

If you have a windows 7 upgrade disk you can install a full verison of windows. Just, when it first asks you for the code dont type it in. Once you install windows, type the code and you got a full version.

I know you can upgrade from the RC with the Upgrade disc. Though if you can acquire the full version of Windows 7 you can use the upgrade key with no hassle.

When you install Windows 7 you get the option to do a 30 day trial. So no key is needed, then after you have everything installed you can input your key. What Speedma11229 suggested might be possible. There was a loophole in Vista where you could do the same.

Sorry not possible. It has be to 32 bit to 32 bit upgrade or 64 bit to 64bit. You would have to do a clean install.

Has anyone proven that this can be done yet? I'd like to use an upgrade disk to do a clean install.

I did a clean install with my upgrade disk. If you have the keycode that came with the disk, then it shouldnt be a problem.
