Edit: Reasons/Personal experiences.

Vista ended up being alright after numerous fixes.

Tried the first public BETA on an old Dell Dimension: P4 (521) @ 2.8GHz; 1 1/2 GB Crucial RAM; FX 5500 vid card...and after seeing how well it performed on that machine, I knew it was a winner. The SuperBar is what actually sold me.

I chose OEM Ultimate because that's what I'll eventually be using. I'm using the RC1 now, but will switch to the real version in time.
