Default I Need A Windows 7 Install Under 4GB

I'm testing something out, and I need a Windows 7 installation under 4GB (not counting the page file).

I've already tried vLite and I'm not getting anywhere. Windows 7 starter version is fine.

I don't know if it will solve your problems but you might want to check the Automated Install Kit out, see if has anything for stripping out features and such. Past that, I would wait until 7lite comes out (who knows?!)

Thanks for the reply.

I already have that, played around a little.

7lite will not be coming out sadly, the dev is too busy to make it, plus he reasons that 7 is already "lite" enough.

I currently have a 7 DVD with only the starter edition that was cut down to 1.2GB ISO. Problem is, it can't install because it can't find the SATA controller. I can't seem to find the drivers anywhere. (A normal 7 install disk works just fine though.)

Can't you use a normal starter edition DVD to boot up and select your hdd, then swap it for the 1,2gb one?

Can you go old school and install your mother board drivers from a floppy or thumb drive?

That's the problem. I tried what I though would work, but they didn't. So I'm at a loss.

Ya I tried installing the drivers for my 285 and my Xfi sound card and both drivers say no acceptable hardware found, but Creative updater keeps trying.

I updated win7 RC and got my xfi drivers that way
