I just installed windows 7 on my netbook. My battery meter has been jumping around anywhere from 8 to 3 hours. Is there anyway to find a solid time frame?

There are several laptop battery meter available as gadgets or widgets for W7 and Vista.
eg http://pcsupport.about.com/od/window...agadgetssu.htm http://www.thoosje.com/Windows-7-gad...utilities.html http://monjes.org/programas-y-softwa...r-gadgets.html You could give them a try and see which one(s) work accurately.

BatteryCare is pretty good, gives lots of information: wear level, capacity, and consumption. Also has a setting to disable Areo effects when running on battery.
