New to Overclock.net
|
I have windows xp home installed on one of my desktops and on my laptop i lost the disk for my pc and it needs to be reformated can i use the disk from my laptop to reformat the pc and still use it on the laptop?

Never tried that one, but you may have issues due to the various configurations of Various XP OS disks and then there is the serial number issue too!

If I recall correctly the problem you might run into is that they both have to be the same build. To answer your question, no, there is no serial # tied to the install disc. You just need to make sure both keys will work for the build you have. XP Home, Professional, and so on.

It should work if you have two separate CD keys, as far as the CD itself goes, no there's nothing tied to it.

May be better to just download a copy of the CD off the internet and use a program to find your CD key on your computer if you lost it. That way it doesn't come with all that dell pre-installed uselessness
