so my friends laptop had one hell of a virus, so i just reinstalled xp. here is the weird thing, i can access his old windows on a separate partition, but it's not visible in gparted, or in xp setup, or in administrative tools in the new windows install. i want to delete it as i feel uneasy with it being there, is there any way to do that?

Chill dude, you do not need to bump after 30 minutes. Rules say wait 24 hours.

Right click my computer > Manage> Storage>Disk Management>
Now look for the partition there. Once you find it delete it. Then format it and it should be good to use again. However, if you really want to be militant about this I recommend you write zeros on the entire drive and reinstall from scratch.

that is most likely the back up partition of his drive. Most labtops I have seen have it. When you start up windows and go into the menu, you are supposed to delete every partition there. You can also you easusepartition manager and get ride of it all once and for all.

It's a laptop. So most likely it's just a hidden recovery partition, that companies normally create next to the main OS partition. It is meant for the Restore CD that came with the laptop. If it's that hidden and not accessible though, they probably made it that way so it doesn't get erased. If you/he wants it completely gone, do a zero-fill on the drive.
