Default Install Annoyed

Just venting... Installing...or attempting to install Win7 atm, but ran into the "need cd/dvd driver problem...

My issue is that I left my usb drives that are large nuff to put the install onto at work (an hour and change away...) and I have gotten rid of all my old IDE DVD drives...

So much for this being easy

Installing a copy of vista atm until I can find a workaround...or until I get my USB drives next monday...

Unless anyone has some bright ideas

I had that problem on my friends Dell. I couldn't get it to "detect" the DVD/Drive. Never got to boot from disc, then when I threw in the XP Disc.. guess what? It magically booted from it.

My DVD drive died when I was taking out of my old PC to use in my new one.

So I had to download windows 7 but used my OEM key. Used a USB to install. It worked.

This was the Guide I used. Made it very easy.

I shoulda been clearer hehe. The install I am working on is for an HTPC. I have a sata BD-rom drive as the optical in it and am getting this error.... but I do not have any old IDE based optical dvd drives around the house anymore as I usually piece my older kit and donate them to the community.

Currently seeing if I can work around this driver error thing- just tried the inside windows install and got a DLL error.. so looks like I might be doing just what you said and downloading a new copy and burning it to see if I have better luck. Just wasn't expecting the hassle after all the glowing stories on win7!

Yep soon as I threw in my vista disc it booted- but that is only a temp fix since the key is already in use on the computer im typing from right now
