Angry windows keeps shutting stuff down!!

I keep getting these stupid errors. The one that says "........ Has encountered an unexpected problem and needs to shut down" I have run a full system virus scan and Ive run Norton windoctor a bunch of times. It used to restart itself all the time but I changed a setting in the control panel so it wouldn't shut down every time it had an error. Now every time I shut it down I get some read error messege. !!

try a spyware scan. Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware SE Personal are very good programs. Install them, update the definition files, and run them in safe mode with command prompt. Give us an update after you do this.

I would run an OCCT test on it just to make sure it's completely stable.

Sounds like File corruption...When in windows Normal mode go to the run bar and type '' SFC /SCANNOW'' with an Xp installation disk in your main dvd drive as such and this will then start a process of installing missing or damaged files the Os needs.

You mention an error message. If you put the error # in the Microsoft database search, You will probably find some info about your particular error and how to fix it. I've done that many times.

Try "Safe mode with command prompt". Use task manager to load programs (ctrl+alt+del). Also run Scandisk and select both options "Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors". I had a problem similar to thisand scandisk solved it. Enterprise's suggestion would be excellent. Rep+. Bdog too.
And have you OC'd your CPU?
