I "acquired" an older (pII 400mhz) server running win NT 4.0 server edition on it. It works good...the only problem is, the mouclass.sys file wont load. says it cant find it, yet it is there. Any suggestions? Also, I put another NIC card in it, and I get no "found new hardware" messeage. any suggestions as to how to fix these problems would be most appreciated. thanx in advance.

Well do you have the windows nt 4.0 disk, if so reformatt. If not but you have a windows 2000 disk install that. If neither and you do want to use it for a server, you could always use linux or apache or however you spell it. But unless you reformatt i think your screwed, because the file was probably moved or something at one point and time to a different place where it isnt supposed to go.

I bet a format would fix it. The missing file is probley why the previous owner got rid of it.

The previous people got rid of it because they upgraded...it works fine except for the mouse.

Windons NT is a non plug and play system. You will have to manually install that second nic card by downloading the driver and then going to add/hardware, select nic card, and then point to that driver. As far as that error i would just try to replace that file. Maybe its just corrupt.

If you want NT, you will have to reinstall it to repair it.
If you have USB ports (or add some) you could try a USB mouse. The best thing to do is upgrade to Win 2000. It's a lot better than NT. The motherboard may take a P3 with a bios upgrade. I picked up a Slot1 P2 400 the same way including NT. Went from a Slot1 to a Socket 370 with a "Slocket" adapter. It's the 2) rig in my sig. ![]() You might want to look into it.
