that might be your problem....I've seen posts on the forums saying that that AV behaves almost like a virus itself....maybe try uninstalling it and use one of the known good free ones.

i know what you mean by that post but kaspersky is definitly not a virus itself. iv seen spyware that act like an anti-virus/spyware program telling u that u have spyware and if u pay then u can get rid of them.

iv had kaspersky for a long time and it has caught every virus iv ever had, in fact it has even caught a virus that norton and zone alarm missed.

just in this case, i was playing a game and i turned it off then i forgot to turn back on and i downloaded something and got the virus

ok now, iv ran Hijackthis and it has showed up alot of files, most of these file i recognise and are not a virus. i deleted only one thing and that got the explorer.exe out of my startup. what else should i do?

Hey, just joining in to help out.. I have had some experience with hijackers. Hijackthis is an identifier, not a fixer... I still can't tell from your posts which virus you've got. If you start IE does it take you somewhere other than your home page? if so, where... that is a great way to see who is responsible for the bug.

sent you a pm about hijackthis, make sure your in safe mode and try to run ad-aware and try kapersky agian. You could download avast and try that as it is a very good av.

nope, my home page is the same as always. this is not like most viruses/spyware that i have encountered with. what this virus mainly does is restricts your computer and says that an "administrater has disabled [whatever]", puts my CPU at load, causes ???? next to my time, and sends emails through MS Outlook. nothing else that i know of.

anyways.

Iv ran hijackthis and i deleted something and managed to get the explorer.exe out of my startup.

iv ran spybot S&D and it found 39 things and deleted them

ran kaspersky on recommended settings and deleted 2 things. i rebooted and everything ....seems... to be fine now except i still got the ????? next to my time.

rite now im running kaspersky on a high search settings in safe mode.

ok guys, i just scaned with kaspersky and found nothing but the ????? around the time is still there and i got a new problem.

iv been using firefox this whole time so i havn't used IE, but when i clicked on IE a download message came up:

Name: Win1145695.exe
Type: Application, 570KB
From: C:\WINDOWS\system32

and the usual run, save, or cancel.

im going to run hijackthis again and try to delete it.

also when looking at the registry some files, the very sneaky viruses wont stand out as something out of the ordinary, they will mimic files you recognize, there is a website that will study your registry and tell you what each value is, I cant remember the site, just google it

You may also wish to get a program called ''Registry mechanic'' to get rid of any Registry settings that shouldnt be there. http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/
