Extreme Cooler

Hi. I plan on building a computer this summer with the components in my sig. And thanks to a Microsoft lawsuit I just realized that I have a copy of Windows XP Professional with service pack 2 and Windows XP Profession x64 Edition; both for for $6.00 total. Now my question is which version I should install. Please list or explain pros and cons. Thanks.

I would stick with the standard 32 bit edition. For 3 main reasons.
1) Drivers are a right faff on to get - IF you can get them at all - I can't get drivers for my creative soundcard, my webcam or my onboard NIC 2) Although the performance increase in Windows its self is pretty noticable, unless the application is 64bit - you wont notice ANY increase in speed 3) Applications can be a faff on to get working. I have had trouble with numerous program. To list a few: OCCT, CPU-Z, Diskeeper, MSN Messenger, Internet Explorer (i dont use it - but MSN uses it) Stick with the standard 32bit windows - its far less hassle

well, xp pro is guaranteed to work, BUT
x64 obviosuly is 64 bit so it will run well with your 64 bit cpu BUT their is limited driver support so if you run alot of USB hardware etc etc, you might want to consider pro instead edit: lol jester beat me to it
